The responsibility of the facilitator include:
- Facilitate the development of personal relationships between the student and the larger student body.
- Assist students to orient themselves and access the campus and its facilities.
- Help students to identify their interests and make the best use of the educational and extracurricular activities offered by the university.
- Meet on a regular basis with the student, support people and professor(s) to modify curriculum, adapt assignments and identify meaningful educational goals for the student.
- Maintain confidentiality of the students’ personal information.
- Facilitate support from volunteer university students through recruitment and selection.
- Meet with the volunteers and students on a regular basis and give counsel on issues and concerns that arise.
- Act as a positive role model at all times for the student.
- Assist with the compilation of a student portfolio
With respect to students seeking summer or other employment opportunities:
- Assist students in identifying areas of interest.
- Assist the student in obtaining work that enhances self esteem and in culturally valued places of employment.
- Assist students in developing a comprehensive vocational profile including a resume.
- Support students in using effective telephone and person to person techniques to obtain appointments with employers.
- Identify any job modifications that may be required for the student.
- Support each student in the job of his/her choice by setting up natural supports in the work place (i.e. co-workers) and meeting with the employer on a regular basis.

With respect to community development:
- Participate in seminars, events to promote awareness of inclusive postsecondary education
The Facilitator shall ensure that his/her job is carried out in a manner consistent with the principles of inclusive post secondary education.
